Mini’s v Beetle’s

We started the day with an Easter Egg hunt.  It was a good job I had planned one considering yesterday was such a cop-out!

es1

After they had found their magazines, chocolate and more chocolate we went to Mini’s v Beetle’s

We saw all the usual mini’s and Beetle’s….

es5

…and also some more unusual cars like a really fast miniature Postman Pat van…

es2

…which was surprisingly fast!!  There were also little drag cars…

es3

There was also an amazing wheely’ing fire engine!!!!!  It was brilliant!!

es4

Austin got into cheering for the cars…

es6

He was a bit undecided if he was supporting the mini’s or the Beetle’s…..but in the end the mini’s won…AGAIN!!!!!!!!!  Yay!!

On the way home we stopped off for tea where we found some snow!!

Easter Egg Hunt

There was an Easter Egg Hunt advertised and as Caitlin had put it on her list we went.  It said it was from 11 til 3 so we went at about 11.30 only to be told we were too late….  So we went for a wander around the park.  Caitlin and Noah spent ages walking across a little stream….

h1

…and then a bit further up Noah found a fallen tree to balance on!!

h2

There’s also a lovely little waterfall which you can walk across the top of.  Noah of course was a complete daredevil and walked right across.  Caitlin did too but further back!!

h3

We went back towards the car to collect our picnic and Noah saw some older kids jumping across the stream….so off he went!!!!!!!!

h4

Austin decided to get brave and walk across the beam in the first photo…obviously he fell in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

h5

…he was not impressed and to be fair there were bits of ice in the water so it must have been freezing!!!!!!!!!!!  We abandoned picnic and went home to watch films in the warm!!!!!!!!

Trapped!

The mini club was going to Krispy Kreme and since it was the school holidays we went too!  Richard was finishing at 8pm so he met us there.  There are always loads of modified cars at Krispy Kreme in the evening and Noah was in his element taking photos of them all!  Then Austin grabbed the camera and took some of Noah!!

kk

When it was time to go home Caitlin decided to go with Richard and the boys with me…so we set off in Elvis and after about 5 minutes I heard my phone ring….  Once I get the message it was Richard saying him and Caitlin were trapped!!  Some complete idiot had double parked behind him, blocking him in….and then managed to break his central locking so he couldn’t get in his car to move it!  I drove back to collect Caitlin…and yelled at the stupid man…I mean who double parks blocking a complete stranger in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was fuming!!!!!!!!  Eventually over an hour later and only because the person next to Richard left meaning he could do a million point turn and get free!!!

A day in the woods!

I’d read about an Easter egg hunt in a nearby woods so we went along.  We met a few friends there too which was good.  It is a tiny little wood in a pretty built up area and it was fantastic!!  They had loads of great activities going on, but they were mainly interested in climbing the trees….

w3

I did manage to drag them away long enough to make a web from twigs and wool…

w2

They ran off to play while I made a (very rubbish) spider to go on my web!  There were also free pizza’s from a little wood burning pizza oven..they were lovely!  We completed the Easter egg hunt and they all got a little wooden medal which they got to drill out themselves to hang on string.  Austin especially loved drilling!!  They also made masks and I did some willow weaving.  There was a broomstick making area but when we got there they had cleared up so we just got some sticks and made our own….

wood1

…it didn’t really last very well!  There must be a knack for tying brooms!!!

It was a fantastic day and everything was free!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The kids absolutely loved it.

Museum and a farm

Yesterday we met up with one of Noah’s nursery friends and went to Manchester Museum, yet again it was freezing cold!!!  The museum itself seemed a bit rubbish really.  It’s a few years since we’ve been and some of it was being updated, the rest just didn’t seem to hold their attention.  We didn’t stay that long really, but they were far more interested in the walk back to the station.  They loved walking along the pavement where the bricks were corner on to stop people parking or driving on there!  We also bought some blood oranges from a street fruit stall which they fascinated by!

m1

Today we went to Wheelock farm with some friends who’ve got a little baby…

f1

It was still freezing but the animals were in a shed which was a bit sheltered.  Noah of course fed the animals and Caitlin surprised me by stroking and feeding them…but not as much as Austin….

f2

The farm was brilliant, it’s not massive but just big enough to keep their attention all the way around and it has a massive play area…

f3

They spent ages in the play area going on everything!!

f4

We then stopped for our packed lunch…

f6

…it’s hard to tell in the photo but it was snowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I think this is the first time I’ve ever had a picnic in the snow!!!!

After lunch we found the go-karts and had a great time racing around, we were even with someone who pinched my camera and took some photo’s of me….

f5

….I was hiding just enough to post the one above!!  Thank you John!  We’ll have to go back next year when their little one can have a go on the karts too!  We played around for hours, even though it was freezing, until Noah came running over to say “Caitlin was laughing so hard she hit the steering wheel and her skin has come off.”  We went over to a hysterical Caitlin but it was just a graze on her nose!  They were all about to get too cold so we quit before it all fell apart!  The farm, especially the play area, was ace….we’ll definitely have to go back when it’s warmer!

Rollerblading

Since we had no plans for today we started off with a very leisurely breakfast!!  Caitlin needed to make breakfast for her brownie cook badge so I let her make everyone’s breakfast…which took ages!!  She made cereal for Noah, warmed croissants for me and made scrambled egg for Austin!

b1

When she had finished (and washed up!) we lounged about and then decided to do something off their lists and so we went rollerblading.

rb1

Austin hasn’t got rollerblades or skates so he took his bike…

rb3

We stayed for quite a while skating around and having a play on the swings…

rb2

but it was very very cold and Noah started crying because he was too cold!  We started to skate back home but it seemed to be a very long journey as all 3 of them were cold and needed me to help them and I could only help one at a time!  We eventually made it home and hid away from the cold!!

Party party!

Yet again we had another weekend over run with parties!  We started off on the Friday night with another 40th party for us.  A lot of our friends turn 40 this year and next!!  It was Richard’s friend who plays and build pipe organs so his cake was an organ..it was ace!!

IMAG1017

On Saturday Caitlin and Noah were both invited to the party of a boy in Caitlin’s class.  He loves football and so plays football with Noah at playtime.  His party was at Manchester United’s ground, which Noah loved!!

mu1

They got a tour of the stadium and then had party food in the café.

mu2

Sunday was a soft play party for Caitlin before a nice relaxing afternoon before the start of the Easter hols!!

Almost the holidays

Before each school holiday Caitlin and Noah both write a list of the things they’d like to do and we try to do as many of their ideas as we can.  Normally their lists are pretty simple and filled with things I’ve already said we’d do.  This time Noah had the usual things like going to soft play, the park etc.  The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) nearly always features.  He also had “go to Santa Pod to see the jet car”

nlist

Caitlin’s list was hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!

clist

It had simple things like MOSI, an Easter egg hunt, soft play….  Slightly unusual things like go to Frankie and Bennys……  And completely mad things like tour France!!  And circumnavigate the globe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Needless to say we won’t tour France or circumnavigate the globe……  We’ll try to do the other things though.

Caitlin and plasticine!

While we were away for the weekend they all made some things out of plasticine.  Caitlin always makes me laugh when she does things like this…she puts so much detail in!  She made a little girl with a lake and a boat.  The girl had slippers and loads of changes of shoes (all lined up alongside the cardboard…..

IMAG1013

…and then for when the lake froze over she made the girl some ice-skates!!!!!!

IMAG1012

I thought that was really funny!!  Noah made a football pitch…of course!!!!!!!!!!!!
