Cars 2

Finally with the start of the summer holidays we went to see Cars 2!!  I have been dying to see this since it came out last week and it was brilliant!  All 3 of them (and my Godson who we went with) sat completely fascinated with it.  It didn’t start until 7pm so we were convinced they would all fall asleep during it, but all of them stayed awake the whole time!!

We did sneak into the posh seats!!  It was really quiet and the kids couldn’t see from the regular seats so I moved us all to the premium seats!!  It worked…no-one moved us and they got a brilliant view for the whole film!!

Last day at nursery

Today was Noah’s last day at nursery…..It’s going to be very strange not going back there (maybe ever).  I first started going to the nursery when Caitlin was a few months old, to their play group…  Then Caitlin started going to the nursery, but me and Noah carried on with the play group, and soon after Austin was born and he joined the play group too.  Noah then joined Caitlin in the nursery and it was just me and Austin for the play group.  The play group then closed down, but Noah was still at the school in the nursery so I still went daily.  I’m not sure if Austin will be going to the nursery….it is a fantastic nursery but the logistics of being in 2 places at the same time are really hard so I’m not sure if I’ll be sending him…but a year off from the ridiculous school runs and I might change my mind!!

In the morning today they had their leavers assembly where they are all presented with their record of achievement….

Noah was very proud to get his and it is lovely…loads of photos and the odd piece of work they have done.

Party time

One of Caitlin’s oldest friends was having her 6th birthday party.  It was a bowling party…

Caitlin loves bowling and we haven’t been for a while so she enjoyed that.  After the food they got to have a go on the dodgems.  Caitlin was as high as the minimum height limit so just got on!  They all struggled to actually reach the pedals but they managed!  They were told they could go one in a car and have 1 go or double up and have 2 goes…1 as a passenger and 1 as a driver.  They chose to double up.  Caitlin was a passenger first and loved it….

She then got a turn at driving which she also loved….

Luckily they had the dodgems to themselves because they were all a bit slow as they kept slipping off the pedals!!!

School pick up….

Finally…there is just one more day of daft school pick up’s!  I have finished the really stupid pick up on a Monday and Tuesday when I bring a friends kids home…then I drive to Noah’s school, get Noah, race to Caitlin’s school, get the kids, walk home and then return later to collect my car!!  The rest of the week is almost as stressful as I only have 15 minutes between Noah finishing and Caitlin finishing.  In that 15 minutes I have to get Noah and Austin back to the car which I have to park down the road….and Austin does not like rushing!!  I then have to drive 2 miles past 2 other schools…which both have tonnes of traffic trying to park near them…to Caitlin’s school.  I only just make it and I will not be sad to say goodbye to that journey!  Today Richard was around to go get Caitlin so I didn’t have to rush too much and when I came out of the cloakroom I spotted Noah and Austin on a bike together….

…so tomorrow I will rush between the 2 schools for the very last time…and they will be able to relax in the playground having a last play with their friends….yipppeee!

Toddler group

I realised that I used to blog about all the play groups that I took Caitlin and Noah to, but I hardly ever say where I take Austin.  For the past year we’ve been going to a play group every Thursday morning, Austin has a little friend there who is a couple of months older than him.  It’s quite a big group which has a craft activity, a car room, a home room (with cooker and dressing up) and a general play room.  You’re not allowed to take the cars through into the play room incase you run over any babies!  The lady who runs the group sits in between the rooms and stops cars sneaking through.  Every week it seems it is Austin’s mission to sneak as many cars through as he can….he usually does quite well, but it’s obviously just a challenge to him because as soon as he is through with the car he isn’t interested in it any more and just plays with something else!  He then goes back and sneaks another car in!!!

At the end there is singing which Austin just used to sit on my knee for…but the past few weeks he has decided to get up and do the actions….

Shorty

Richard was on an early shift today so we went to mini club.  A new mini came down that we hadn’t seen before…the kids loved it, it was a shorty!

Noah was fascinated and kept asking the man how you get in!  At first he was busy talking to other people and so didn’t really answer, and my answer of you climb in wasn’t good enough!!  Eventually he gave Noah a demo and then he let him sit in it, but I didn’t have my camera handy for that one!  Caitlin and Austin both got a turn at sitting in it too and have now decided they want a shorty!!!  Might pose a slight problem with how few passengers it takes!!!

Almost the holidays

Today was nice and sunny so we went to the park with Matthew and Zak…it was a bit sad really because they are both off to school in September so today was the last of our Tuesday outings.  Austin had a great time as usual, running around and trying to climb the trees.  I can’t believe it’s nearly the holidays…it seems like forever since last summer holidays.  We’ve made a list of things they want to do which we’ll be working our way through.  I think Austin will love having Caitlin and Noah around to play with…..

Dig dig dig!!

Richard has been digging the garden over ready for grass for a while…..Caitlin and Noah got in on the act and did some digging too!!  They have loved it!

…and it’s almost ready for turf!!  While doing some digging they have found all sorts of bugs and worms…

and brought them to show me….so kind!!!

The turf is now ordered…..and once it’s all levelled Richard can lay it and soon we’ll be out there playing!!  Just in time for the summer holidays which aren’t too far away now…..

How big???

I decided to measure and weigh all the kids which I haven’t done for ages.  I can not believe how much Noah has grown!!  His eating has really improved…it’s been really gradual and in amongst all the other chaos it’s only when I really think about it that I realise how much better he is.  All this eating is really taking effect..he has grown massively and has really caught Caitlin up and even overtaken her in some measurements!!!!!

Austin…..  He is just turned 2 years old and now weighs a chubby 2 stone!  He is 88cm tall and his head is 50.5cm.

Noah….coming up for 4 and a half…now weighs 2 stone 9lb (more than Caitlin!!)  He is 104cm…rapidly catching Caitlin up and his head is 51cm.  This is really odd because Austin can’t fit into Noah’s hats….I did check and re-check this one but his head is bigger on paper??!!

Caitlin….coming up to 6!!!!!!!!…now weighs 2 stone 7lb.  She is 108cm and her head is 50cm.  I don’t think it will be long before Caitlin is overtaken in height by Noah!!

School trip

After I went on Caitlin’s school trip Noah asked if I could come on his….so Nanny came over to watch Austin and I went along to the Blue Planet Aquarium.  Noah asked his teachers if I could come..he told them Nanny was looking after Austin and so after they had checked with me..they said I could go.  I’ve been involved with Noah’s school since I started to go to the playgroup there when Caitlin was about 6 months old so they do know me quite well…but I’ve only been on 2 trips..this one and the Royal wedding parade.  Both times I seem to have had loads more responsibility…last time I had twice as many kids as some parents…this time I had the same number as most (but more than some) and I was the only parent to have one of the kids with special needs.  I hope the school isn’t trying to put me off any more trips!  All of my group were really good though…they all loved seeing all the fish and had a great time.

I had Noah in my group….he has been really really excited for weeks…and now that the day was finally here he was fit to burst on the coach!!

I love that Noah gets so excited all the time!  First off we had a lesson on sea life which was really interesting and I learnt lots of new things…Noah now wants to try lobster for tea one night…we’ll have to look into that!!!  We then watched the divers in the tank, then it was time for lunch.  That was a bit hectic because we were only allowed 25 minutes on the tables and it took 10 minutes to get the packed lunches to us…..they all did quite well but very few managed to finish in that time!  After that we went around all the tanks and got to touch the rays….

…and walk through the shark tunnel….

I was convinced they would all fall asleep on the coach since it was a 45 minute journey but all of my lot stayed awake…even Noah!!!!!!!  I actually really like school trips and had a great time.
