First day at school

Finally….Caitlin’s first day of school arrived!!  I think because she is the oldest in the class it really seems like she should be at school.  All of her friends that we met when she was born went off to school last year so I didn’t have the same dread that everyone else had.  Also she has been at nursery full-time for a year and part-time for 2 terms before that.

Richard had the day off for her first day and the sun was shining so we all went together.  First off was the compulsory photo….

Caitlin has been looking forward to going to big school and so was very excited to put on her uniform and get going!!

…so excited she decided to look like a penguin!!!!!!!  Just before we set off there was time for a photo of all of them….

As usual it was nearly impossible so we gave up and walked to school!  When we got to the playground there was just time for one last photo…

…then she spotted her friend from nursery and that was the last we saw of her!  She ran around with her and then ran straight in the door as soon as it was opened!  I think she is going to like school!!

We went for a drink while she was there for a pathetic 1.5hrs!!!!  Then came back to an even more excited Caitlin!!!!!!  She had had a great time, played with play doh and done some colouring.  Then after a gorgeous sunny day it was sudden thunder storms and torrential rain…so we walked home getting soaked along the way!!!  We then went out bowling and for some tea….

Lessons

I’ve been meaning to sign Caitlin and Noah up for some lessons for ages!  And finally I did it.

On Saturday Caitlin finally had her very first ballet lesson.  She was extremely excited and packed her new ballet bag with her ballet and tap shoes and off she went in her leotard!!!  I thought I’d have to stay there with her but all the parents get “thrown” out of the room and the door shut!  There were no windows or anything so I didn’t get to take any photos or watch her dance, but afterwards she told me all about it!  She loved it…she jumped and tapped and pointed!!

On Sunday Caitlin and Noah both started their swimming lessons.  They have a different teacher to the ones in the summer…..she is quite harsh and Noah really likes her, but Caitlin isn’t overly impressed!!  Lets hope it doesn’t put her off completely!

Caitlin turns 5!!

FIVE!!  I can’t believe Caitlin is 5!!!!  It sounds so grown up!!  And she’s starting to look so grown up!!

Richard was working nights so was asleep during the day so we got out of the house and went to the park…..

…Caitlin insisted on wearing her new sparkly shoes!!!!!  Completely unsuitable but she enjoyed herself!!  They fed the ducks, watched the deer, climbed on fallen trees and fell off the fallen trees right into nettle patches!!!!!!

Yes that’s Noah’s arm!!!!!  He is always falling into or just deliberately sticking his arms into nettles!  Both arms were covered in stings and he was hysterical!!!  After our picnic we headed home where Daddy was awake and so we could do our presents!!!  Also on Caitlin’s list was a pair of Lelli Kelly’s!!!  (Yes more shoes!!!!) So we got her those, a doll and some bits and bobs.  Noah and Austin got her a walking, yapping dog (NOT REAL!!!!!)…it’s pink and a bit scary but Caitlin loves it!!

After our presents Caitlin had chosen to go to a local soft play.  They have a go-kart track which normally we say no to but today they had a go….

…and loved it….

After playing we went for some tea….

(that’s Sally the dog in the middle! She had to come for tea too!!)

…and then it was time for Richard to drop us off and go to work.

At 5 Caitlin is now so much more confident than she was a year ago!  She will talk to almost anyone and is really ready for school.  Ability wise she is doing really well but it’s really strange because she now seems behind all her friends who went to school last year, they have all learnt to read and write but she can’t because she’s not been taught yet.  She can copy any writing, can write a fair few words from memory, knows her alphabet and numbers, she can do simple adding and subtracting and can read a few words.  She draws amazing pictures that are really detailed.  She also still adores both of her brothers, and Noah is still her bestest friend who she’d chose to play with over anyone.  Her favourite colour is most definitely pink and her favourite food at the moment is fajitas…..
