Christmas day…

Our day actually started fairly late at about 8am, and we even had to wake Noah for that as Caitlin was racing ahead with the present opening!!  I think this is our last year for sensible waking times!!!!  They all got into Caitlin’s bed to open their stockings…..

After they had exhausted that we went downstairs to see if Father Christmas had left anything else…..

I can’t remember if I have written about their wish lists, so just incase….  Caitlin wanted Peppa Pig’s house and polly pocket, and then in the past week she has added a kettle….  Noah has asked for blue paper plates (from tesco’s), bolts and pipes and roary….

Austin was pretty uninterested in his pile really…

Caitlin was very pleased with her Peppa Pig house and polly pocket.  She also got lots of clothes, books and a red riding hood outfit…

Noah was so over excited by his blue plates it was funny!  I am gutted I wasn’t videoing because he opened them and said “wow blue plates!!!!” then said “did Father Christmas go to tesco??”   He also got roary, some clothes, books and he shared the giant mini with Caitlin and Austin.

After we had done presents and got dressed (in the new clothes!) we headed off to my Mum’s for Christmas dinner.  There were 19 for Christmas dinner and I think the noise over whelmed Austin!!  It is a very hectic affair and he cried a lot!!!!!!!  I thought it might be his teeth as he had very red cheeks but calpol didn’t seem to work and then when we tried his present on the crying stopped….

…it may well be more teeth as well though??!!

It was well after bedtime when we set off for home and all three of them fell straight asleep and Noah didn’t wake up until 9am the next morning!!!!!!

A week in the snow!!

Last Friday we headed off to Nan’s for a Christmas visit.  Everyone was going on about the weather, it was cold up north but nothing too bad…..in fact it wasn’t bad until we got about 10-15 miles from Nan’s.  Then it was solid ice!!!  We saw a fair few cars in the hedges along the way, but we got there safely.

The next morning we headed out into the garden to play in the snow….

Caitlin was the first to get too cold and so she went in while Noah put the finishing touches to the snowman!!

I then ran inside to get Caitlin for a snowman picture but during that time Noah reached his coldness threshold and so he vanished inside!!!  So no joint picture!!

On the Sunday we ventured out for a walk, or should I say skate!!!!!  It was so icy, Caitlin and Noah fell over a million times, it took us hours to walk about a quarter of a mile to the front.

After our walk we had a Sunday roast, so we classed that as Christmas dinner complete with crackers and hats and did presents afterwards.  Caitlin and Noah got a phonics desk and lots of other bits and pieces and me and Richard got beer, chocolates and some money for the sales!!!

We didn’t really do much for the rest of the week as it was too icy to go out so we just relaxed and played with Nan!!

We were supposed to be going to visit Cousin R but they were all sick so we didn’t go which was a real shame as Caitlin and Noah were very excited about seeing R and I was dying to try to get a decent picture of the 4 of them together….  So we headed home a day early.  The journey was a nightmare…..

Everywhere was covered in snow and ice and although the main roads were clear it was foggy and there was a lot of traffic so it took us 7 and a half hours!!!!!!!

Catch up time again!!!!

Wow I’m bad at keeping up to date at the moment!!!

Last Saturday Caitlin was supposed to be at a party but the birthday boy was sick so it was cancelled, but that meant we finished the presents for the Grandparents!  It also meant Richard could get on with the kitchen so he plastered the ceiling.  He’s never done a ceiling before but I think it looks really good.  Once that was done he could mount the wall units!!  So now we have wall units, a ceiling, a working oven and a temporary sink!!!!!  Hopefully after Christmas the extremely slow joiner will have our windows ready to fit, the sink and the other half of the units can go in followed by the worktops!!!

On Monday we met Squidge at the museum as Noah has been asking to go for a while.  It was a good day until things got a bit rowdy and when I turned around Noah and Squidge were playing with a full size woolly mammoth skeleton!!!!!!  The assistant looked like he was about to have a heart attack so it was in the pram for Noah after that and the trip didn’t last much longer!!!!!!!   Can you imagine how much trouble we’d have been in if they had knocked it over!!!!!

Wednesday was Caitlin’s school play.  She was a cracker which basically meant she ran around a lot and jumped up and down with ribbons sewn to her t-shirt!  She was great though, she did actually run around and didn’t cry which is loads better than she would have managed last year.

Our Christmas shopping is now done I just have a few things I’d like to make for Caitlin and Austin (I have no making ideas for Noah..boys are hard to make for which might be a good thing given how behind with making I always am!) and about half of the wrapping!  Wouldn’t be too bad except we are going away tomorrow and the sellotape is upstairs with a sleeping Richard!!!!!

So that’s it until Christmas eve when I might have enough time for a quick update on our week down south between wrapping and sewing!!!

Christmas is a busy time!

It would appear my blog has gone out of the window in an attempt to keep up with my daft Christmas present ideas!!!!!!  We are plodding on with the presents and we have crossed a fair few off our list!!!

Last weekend Caitlin went to a birthday party…Barney came too of course!  There were loads of party games which Caitlin loved, and also a crafty table set up so Caitlin and her friend E made a Christmas card each.  After the party the kids went off to my Mum’s while we went out with manchester minis.  It was a good night, we had a meal and then DJ at a nearby hotel.  Everyone else was complaining about the food but me and Richard liked it…maybe it’s because all we’ve had recently is ready meals!!!

On Tuesday me, Noah and Austin went into town to the Christmas markets.  They were ok but pretty much the same things as last year which was a bit disappointing.  We had pancakes though and they were lovely, and we did finish off our shopping!!  In the evening Caitlin put up our Christmas tree.  Normally I’m really particular about all the decorations coordinating but as the house is so chaotic I let her have free rein…..

There is a lot of pink and the tinsel is just draped across!!!  While she was doing that and I was helping her get the ones she wanted out of the box Richard was unpacking the cooker!!!!!!!!

Turns out you don’t get anything needed to connect it so it just sat there looking good!!

On Wednesday just before mini club Caitlin spotted the box from the Christmas tree and stood amazed looking at it and said…. “oh look you’re opposed to put presents underneath and decoration it!!”  Presents on the way and she did “decoration it”.  When we got to mini club she had another flash of inspiration and said “oh look the tinsel is supposed to go up and down…mine doesn’t is that ok?”  Yes it is ok…I like the way she’s done it, it’s funny!

Thursday was Christmas party day!  We had a party at play group where the elves from the school next door brought presents, and then straight after that it was a party at a soft play with Abigail and Katie.  There was fake snow….

After that and party food Father Christmas arrived and read a story..then it was time to go and see him and tell him what you want!

Caitlin actually stood near to him and said she wants peppa pigs house and polly pocket.  Noah was a bit put out he didn’t get to sit on his knee with Austin…but he asked for blue paper plates, a big car, pipes, bolts and a baby!!!!!!!!!!  The baby is a new one on me (which he isn’t getting!!) but the blue paper plates are at the top of his list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today we have been finishing off the reindeer food that Caitlin is giving out at school with her cards and we also decorated Elvis!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We waited and waited and finally….

…we got Barney!!!!!!!  At Caitlin’s school they have a bunny which goes home with someone new every night.  They got Barney back at the beginning of November and Caitlin keeps mentioning him and how soon it will be her turn, she was just starting to wonder if she would ever have a turn and guess what…we got him for a whole weekend!!!!!!!  Caitlin is so excited and by proxy so is Noah!!!!  So we left school and hit on our first problem….Barney comes in a medium sized box and with the 3 car seats, coats, sling, lunch bag, book bag etc there wasn’t quite enough room in the car for him so he was relegated to the boot.  When he got home Caitlin was desperate to show him her slide bed…..so off sliding they all went….

Come bedtime they had decided they needed to have another sleepover in Caitlin’s room…complete with Barney…….

Yeah that photo really looks like lots of sleep is going to happen……ah well they’re having fun!!!  And we’ve got a night off tomorrow so can’t complain!!!!!!

Unbelievable!!!

Yesterday we went to playgroup as usual and as usual I tried to get Austin to sit for even a second!!!  And he did….so I looked around amazed and Louise looked at him…and I said wow I can’t believe he’s sitting….  (still sitting!)  ..I then asked does this justify writing in his red book…to which Lou replied yes…and he was still sitting…..  He sat for ages, I didn’t time him because he hasn’t even managed a second or 2 yet….and by the time I realised he was having a real go at the sitting lark it was too late to start counting!!  So there it is, just like Noah he has gone from not even being able to sit with support…to sitting for about a minute!!!!!!!!  Today he is doing the same….sitting for quite a while at a time….  And there was me assuming he was going to be 7 months before he sat, if we were lucky!

Same Difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night we went to see some Christmas lights being switched on near to us….  And the main stars were Same Difference!!!!!!!!!!  I am rubbish with celebrities but we love the X-factor so I actually know who they are and was quite excited to go see them!!!

We are at the very back of the crowds though so I think I might have been the only person excited to see them!!!!!!!  Very scarily though Caitlin and Noah could give Same Difference a run for their money in the cheesy smile stakes!!!!!
