Day’s 4 and 5!

Day 4 started well with Austin waking 3 minutes before Richards alarm clock went off!!!!!!!  So as full a nights sleep as he would have got for Richard!  Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get Caitlin and Noah to go back to sleep so I had to get up with them at 6.30am!!  Still can’t really complain…getting a lot more sleep than most people with a newborn.

In the morning we just played in the sun in the garden and some friends called round so I entertained Austin inside with some head up practice…he’s very good at lifting his head just like Caitlin was……

After dinner Nan arrived which Caitlin and Noah were very excited about and Nan had a few cuddles with Austin.

After Caitlin and Noah had their tea Nan bathed them and put them to bed and then we had some champagne to celebrate Austin’s arrival!!!  The next day Nan did loads of gardening for us and planted some sunflower seeds with Caitlin and Noah…

At tea time Spam, Cath and Harry came to visit for a BBQ.  I very stupidly thought I could get a photo of all 4 kids….I didn’t do too badly but its not great!!

Caitlin and Noah were both exhausted by the end of the day…and quite dirty from all that gardening and water fun!!

Day three…

God we’ll be into the months by the time I catch up with the days!!!!!!!

Day three began with Austin waking at about 4am which was again really good, but I knew Richard was due up for work really soon so I gave him a dummy and held him off until Richard had got up and then when he stirred I fed him.  He then went back to sleep and when Caitlin and Noah came in around 7ish I managed to convince them to get in our bed and go back to sleep!!  We all finally woke up properly around 8am (which was still a bit early for my liking!!)

As Richard was in work we didn’t really do much other than potter around the house and do a bit of tidying.  Once Richard got in we decided to go bowling!  You can just about see the lane behind him!

bowl

The guy serving us at the bowling was amazed at how old Austin was and how I didn’t look like I’d had a baby 2 days earlier which was nice!!

I did however discover why “normal” people don’t go bowling on day 3!!  After a few bowls I began to feel like my pelvis was all coming detached!!!!!!!!  I felt all wobbly and as if my hips might disconnect themselves and later on I was very achey!  We had a great time though and Noah won by a mile!!!!!  He did have barriers up though!  And I came 2nd despite my hips falling apart!

Then it was home and time for tea and more Britains got Talent!!!!

The second day….

Our second day was an action packed day!!  Richard was off work again and so he nipped to tesco so we had some things to eat!!  Also Linda very kindly offered to come around and take some photo’s of “Kip”, so I gave him his first bath!

bath

So she came bringing all her props and also lunch!!  Everyone ate and then we got to work  getting some amazing photo’s!  There is one in particular that I am really impressed with and it has me in it!!  Normally if I see a picture of me I HATE it, very very occasionally I think it is “ok” and will let other people see it!!  This one I actually really like it….  So much so that I am intending to get my Mum a copy…she is very excited about the prospect of having a photo of me!!!!!!

mekip

She got loads of fantastic photo’s not just of “Kip” but of Caitlin and Noah and even one of the 5 of us…that was quite impressive to get so many kids (and 2 photo-phobic adults) to look the right way!  I also love this one…

ckip

Ahh forget it..I loved them all!!!  I’d post them all but I’ll be here all day!!!  She’s put a few on her blog if you want to look at those its…

http://www.lindademelophotography.com/blog/?p=219

You can find details of how to book her on there if you fancy…I can highly recommend her our photos are great!  In fact I may share more when I get more time!!!!  I have to shrink them all for our dial up readers!!

She would have got more except we were disturbed by the midwife… I had no idea she was planning a visit so good job we were in!  She did Kip’s newborn check and everything is fine.  Just his hearing test to do but as he was born under water they wait to do that.  Not really sure why a pool of water is any different to a bag of water??!!

After tea we decided an outing was in order so we went off to the mini club!!  As Caitlin and Noah were born on a Thursday they were both 6 days old when they first went…but Kip is now officially the youngest ever member to attend!!!  I think the whole night passed him by a bit really, but Noah and Caitlin got very possessive when people started cuddling him!  Caitlin said he’s our baby…we’re keeping him, and Noah kept saying he’s my baby!

The first day…

Bit of a catch up post as we’ve been so busy the past few days….

On the Tuesday we just pottered around the house tidying up and then waiting for Caitlin and Noah to come back and then introducing them to their new brother.  At tea time it was time for a visit from Nanny, Grandad and Aunty Amy!!

After they had gone we watched Britain’s got Talent and then I took a few pictures of Richard with “Kip” (He’s not really Kip but as he still doesn’t have a name its easier than calling him number 3 etc!)

…and then it was bedtime!  Kip slept really well again and only woke once in the early morning for a feed.

The arrival of number 3

On Friday May 22nd, my due date I started to get niggly pains about 3 minutes apart at about 10pm and thought yippee it’s happening!  The pains died down once I told Richard about them and he’d started filling the pool, and by midnight they had pretty much stopped so we went to bed at 1am.

On Saturday morning I was feeling a bit uncomfortable but still nothing regular so Richard went off to work on the new house and I played the waiting game.  I continued to feel uncomfy all day with the odd bout of contractions but nothing major so we went out to Nando’s for our tea.  By the evening they had all stopped aside from the odd uncomfortable feeling.

All day Sunday I felt fed up but only had the odd spell of achey type pains so went to bed at 11pm after just sitting around waiting for things to happen all day!  As soon as I went to bed I started getting quite painful contractions every 10 to 15 minutes so took some paracetamol.  That lasted until 2am when I decided to get up as I couldn’t sleep through them and considered filling the pool…and hey presto they stopped AGAIN!!!

On Monday I continued to get the odd pain and then spells of a few pains together and spells of an hour or so with nothing at all so still nothing regular so at lunch time I went to bed for a bit.  By tea time the pains were starting to get more painful but still not regular, but I felt weird so we decided to call the midwife and I really wanted some gas and air at this point.  We also called Louise to come and look after Caitlin and Noah.  The midwife (Helen) arrived just after 6pm and I’m sure she thought we had called too early, and kept implying that she understood why we had called early after us misjudging with Noah.  She started filling in the paperwork to say she had been and asked me if I wanted her to examine me, but also said she wouldn’t normally recommend me being examined at this point as she thought it was too early but would understand if I felt I wanted her too.  Part of me wanted to know how far along I was but I was also really worried she’d say things weren’t happening at all.  After a bit of deliberating I decided since she was there I’d go for it and then at least if nothing much was happening she could go home again and I could just get very depressed about a false start!!  I could see her getting very surprised as she checked me over and announce I was actually at least 6cm dilated, she was definitely convinced I was barely in labour until that point!  My contractions however continued to be really irregular and not any closer than 5 minutes apart so I can see why she was confused!

While all this was going on Richard was busy filling my pool and Helen said I could get in if I wanted and have some gas and air so I did and within about 2 minutes my waters went.  She thought this would help speed up and regulate my contractions but it didn’t seem to!!  Soon afterwards the second midwife arrived – Cathy.  She was one of the midwives who had come after Noah was born and from what we could gather is a lot more experienced than Helen.  Even though my contractions were still really irregular and even stopping for up to 15 minutes and still no quicker than 5 minutes apart she seemed to just know that things were still progressing.  Cathy also kept telling Helen to get her hands out of the pool which was good as she was interfering a bit!  She seemed obsessed with monitoring my temperature and pulse and the baby’s heartbeat, I think she was just fairly new to the job and so a home birth was probably a bit new and a big responsibility for her!  Cathy was really nice, very laid back and was laughing with us about how she had planned to watch Britain’s got Talent!  Richard then said she’d be ok because we’d be watching BGT and joked that the baby would probably be born to DJ Talent!

Helen was still not convinced labour was properly established and as it was almost time for her shift to end she called the next midwife to come and take over.  Another midwife then arrived (also called Helen!!) who was the one I had seen at my last appointment and also a few times before that which was strange as I normally never see the same people again!  Soon after Helen 2 arrived I started to push and after about 20 minutes of pushing through contractions that were STILL not coming fast or regularly the third King was born!!  Strangely enough Britain’s got Talent had just started and Richards prediction was right and it was DJ Talent who was performing!!

So after a very long 3 nights and 3 days of on off contractions of varying strengths and recurrence a little boy was born at home under water.  Although it was hard work it was nice as I was the one to bring him up from under the water and discover he was a boy which I never got to do with Caitlin, I then got to cut the cord.

He was 9lb 2oz and his apgar score was 9 at 1 minute and 10 at 5 minutes.  He was 54cm long and his head was 35.5cm in circumference.  He has quite a lot of dark hair unlike both Caitlin and Noah, but his face looks a lot like Noah did.  And here “he” is at 20 minutes old…poor little thing will have a name soon!

The boy’s!!

Another quick one for a photo of the boys together!!

Noah finally woke up and once he had got over the excitement of the presents Number 3 had brought him…juice and chocolate…his 2 favourite things which he rarely gets as I’m mean!!  He wanted a hold….

boys1

….I think we’ll have to be careful though as you can see in this picture he lifted little number 3 right up off his knee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lift

Still working on a name…he’ll have one soon……  Richard says I have to decide by tomorrow but I can’t promise!!!!  I hate choosing names I feel like its such a huge responsibility and I can pick fault in them all…too common, too ordinary, too weird, doesn’t go with King etc etc…..so I can’t see I’ll have decided by tomorrow but I will try….

The 3rd King

Just a quick post with a photo until I get chance to get it all down!!

DSCF0030

Things started getting going very slowly on my due date…. and then finally a little boy was born in the pool at home at 9.06pm on May 25th.  He weighs 9lb 2oz so a tiny bit smaller than his big brother, he looks very similar to him and all of his vital statistics are very similar…he is 1cm shorter and his head 0.5cm smaller.

So far he seems very content and like his brother enjoys his food!  He fed just before bed at about 11pm and we had to wake him for a feed at around 8 this morning.

Caitlin and Noah went to Louise’s just after their tea last night and stayed over since things weren’t all done before bedtime!  Noah has been hilarious apparently and asked for special treats at bedtime!!  He is so cheeky and obviously thought it was worth a shot since he was in a new place!!  He also happily accepted no as an answer which was good!  He then also asked for ice-cream for his breakfast….I suppose it’s credit to him for trying!  Once we (well mainly Richard) had cleaned away the pool Louise brought them both back, although Noah fell asleep on the way and is still asleep!

Caitlin keeps saying the baby is very cute and has had a little hold!

cait

She is now happily playing with all the goodies the 3rd King brought her, while the 3rd King continues to sleep!

Just because I like to record odd facts….  Being born at home means you can do weird things straight after the birth like weigh myself!!  I know it’s a strange thing to do but from Saturday to just now I have lost 10lbs.  I find this very strange and it’s what happened with Caitlin…I haven’t lost enough to account for baby, placenta, water and blood….  and I also haven’t eaten properly for days so makes little sense but sure it will work itself out!

Nando’s and nesting!

Caitlin has been nesting for Britain!!  Not that its doing any good… Every day since D-day she has been scrubbing the table and the place mats with a wipe!!

nest

They are now lovely and clean, well as clean as things like that get with a smeary wipe!!

Yesterday Richard went to the new house but didn’t really get much done as he can’t concentrate and is constantly watching his phone for the call!!!  To be honest it looks like this little one is waiting for next Thursday which I am not happy about!!  Linda brought me a pressy of raspberry leaf tea and the tablets around..so I’ve been taking those but they aren’t doing anything!

The only thing I have done differently this time is not go to Nando’s for me tea…so we went there last night and true to form it made me choke and made my eye’s water but I’m still here this morning…..

nandoc

Caitlin thoroughly enjoyed hers until Noah started complaining his mouth was hot then she said hers was too!!!!  Noah totally takes after me with spicy food etc…he is a wuss!

nanadon

Caitlin takes after Richard and even eats whole (skin included) lemons…yuk!!!!!!!

So here we are D + 2…I have never been so overdue and it is not nice!!!!  Its the not knowing that is driving me mad…..  And also I have plans for next week…..
